H is for Hedgehog • #atozchallenge

hedgehog

Hedgehog

I saw a hedgehog
In the park
Near the stream
His little legs
Carried him swiftly

The world can be
A dangerous place
When you are small

Sometimes, I wish
I could roll into
A ball of needles
To keep the world out

  1. Thank you all for the likes and comments.

I’m not in love with this poem. Something about it keeps bothering me. Prickly is right.

    • I’ve never seen a porcupine. My dog enjoys seeking out hedgehogs, so we see a lot of them in the summer and fall. Animals and plants (like roses) with sharp edges fascinate me.

  2. Ula, I’m sure so many writers would relate to these thoughts. I read about quite a few sensitive souls who don’t want to come out. I have personally found so much love, encouragement and acceptance through blogging and it’s been such a wonderful experience that it’s given me the strength to tackle the “real” world again xx Rowena

    • It’s true, blogging can give encouragement and strength. It’s also nice to go home and hide every once in a while.
