Yammer of Matilda M. (2015)

Yammer of Matilda M.

Tongue wagging
With cutting sharpness
No one is spared
The yammer of Matilda M.
She’ll lament the weather
And her cat that died
For the 10th time
This month
She’ll tell anyone
And everyone
About her abusive boyfriend
That moved in with her
Just last week

Tongue wagging
With cutting sharpness
No one is spared
The yammer of Matilda M.
The food at everyone’s
Favorite restaurant
Is horrid
According to her
Flowers give off
A ghastly scent
Your favorite movie
Vile

Tongue wagging
With cutting sharpness
No one is spared
The yammer of Matilda M.

  1. We all know a negative, self-assured person like Matilda M. And I am sure she has her group of listeners who think her word is truth. This poem is fabulous, from the content to the rhythm.

    • Thanks, Sarah. I was in a weird mood when I wrote this one. I wasn’t thinking of anyone in particular and the examples just came to me. We all know those people (or at least one person) that will complain about anything and everything. These kind of people used to bother me so much cause they always brought me down. Now I try to laugh them off and stay as far away as possible.
